IDI has signed a cooperation agreement with the European Company Lawyers Association (ECLA), in force as of 1 September 2007, which aims at developing a close cooperation with the member associations of ECLA and the company lawyers belonging to such associations. A greater involvement of the in-house counsels, and their associations, through the agreement with ECLA, will enlarge the membership base of our association and thus add new issues and experiences for a successful dialogue with the members and between them. |
In-house counsels of the member associations of ECLA are granted special conditions for the IDI membership and will be involved in the activities of IDI, such as the planning of the annual conference, the organization of discussion forums, etc.. IDI also intends to develop, together with ECLA and its member associations, special events focused on the specific needs of company lawyers.
ECLA was created in 1983. It is an international non-profit association governed by Belgian law. The Articles of Association were approved by Royal Decree on 25 June, 1990.
ECLA is the umbrella organisation for 17 company lawyers associations in Europe. Through its members ECLA represents more than 20.000 company lawyers in 17 countries.
Membership is open to company lawyers associations only. While individuals are not members of ECLA directly, each company lawyer, who is a member of a national company lawyer association, can benefit from ECLA's activities as outlined in its programme below and which include many benefits, among which are discounts to conferences, legal education training, publications.
